15 Years of Dedicated Service

For years, you might have heard that you could (or could not) change. But deep down, you’ve probably always known that at some point, you would be ready to listen more closely to what your mind, body, and spirit have been telling you about your holistic-health needs. Perhaps that time is now. Perhaps I’m the right person to help you.

With the aid of my Reiki, Hypnosis and Intuitive Life Coaching Services, you can begin to let go of the past and learn to flourish in the present moment and well into the future. As you weed out the negative thought patterns rooted inside your mind, you can allow yourself to blossom more fully. You’ll likely come to notice that you feel healthier, happier, and more confident.

Personal Journey

My own healing journey began in earnest in the mid-1990s in my hometown of Winston-Salem, N.C., as I struggled to overcome a variety of physical problems caused by severe allergies and greatly exacerbated by cigarette smoking.

My health, which had deteriorated during my stressful college years, grew significantly worse after graduating from Wake Forest University in 1993 and becoming a newspaper reporter – a high-stress job that had me smoking like a chimney and scarfing down lots of junk food on the run. Consequently my immune system went so haywire that even switching to the calmer pace of a public-relations career was of limited benefit.

For several years, the best relief I got from inflammatory skin, eye and respiratory disorders came in the form of various steroid drugs, which I could only use sparingly because of their damaging side effects. Gradually I came to realize that the real answers to these problems weren’t something that a doctor could ever scribble on a prescription pad.

The Healing Path

I became determined to improve my health with holistic-health strategies, finally kicking the horrible habit of smoking through hypnotherapy and also discovering the benefits of energy healing.

In 1996, I enrolled in my first Reiki class with Mary Goslen, a wonderful teacher who studied under one of the 22 Reiki Masters trained by Hawayo Takata, the trailblazer who brought this healing art to the West from Japan. In addition to Reiki, Mary taught me about the tremendous healing power of eating living (uncooked) foods and juicing fruits and vegetables.

Reiki kanjiAfter moving to Atlanta in 1999 to broaden my horizons, my commitment to healing myself lapsed for awhile in the hubbub of adjusting to a new life. But soon I was shaken back to my senses when my cat Zack required major emergency surgery for a urinary blockage. Nursing him back to health with Reiki and lots of love renewed my desire to heal myself on all levels, leading me to explore a wide variety of healing practices.

Since then, I have completed the following:

    • Usui Reiki Master Certification, Southeastern Reiki Center (Amy Weeks), 2002
    • Karuna Reiki® Master Certification, Southeastern Reiki Center (Amy Weeks), 2002.
    • Creating Self Esteem Workshop Series, Southeastern Reiki Center (Amy Weeks), 2003.
    • La-Ho-Chi Facilitator Certification, Southeastern Reiki Center (Amy Weeks), 2005.
    • Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist Certification (extensive and in-depth), Hypnosis Institute International (Jane Ann Covington), 2008.
    • Ongoing Intuitive Development Training, Chris Wend (mentor), 2008-present.
    • Continuing Education, Hypnosis Institute International (Jane Ann Covington), 2010.
    • Connecting with Angels Training, Dragonfly Reiki (Dana Lisa Young), 2011.
    • Intuitive Mastery Intensive, Imagine Spirit (Carol Nicholson), 2012.
    • Certified Life Coach Certification, Empower Productions (Carolyn Porter), 2013.
    • Angel Love Practitioner Certification (angelic/spiritual communication), Where Miracles Happen (Carolyn Porter), 2013.
    • Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) Master Practitioner Certification, The Gestalt Institute and NLP Center of Atlanta (Leif Roland/Adela Raffa), 2014.

Though healing is an endless process, Reiki and Hypnosis have greatly accelerated the pace of my progress, helping advance me physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Many negative habits, patterns and beliefs about myself have fallen away, and my physical health has improved many times over.

Now in my mid-40s, I actually feel grateful for all of the health problems I suffered in my 20s, realizing that they were necessary for me to evolve spiritually and discover my life’s purpose – helping others to heal.

Through the years, I’ve noticed that many of the most committed healers have faced significant healing challenges of their own – obstacles that led them onto the healing path and gave the empathy to deal with a wide range of conditions.

By late 2002, I felt called to share the amazing gift of Reiki with others, opening my practice in Atlanta where I teach classes and offer healing sessions. My goal is to make this healing technique accessible to lots of people, and the prices and payment options for my services reflect this mission.

Mind, Body, Spirit

Reiki pansyWhile Reiki can be very beneficial in restoring a sense of energetic balance and clearing blockages that impede the flow of life force through the body, much of that work can be undone over time if clients persist in the same thinking patterns.

Now, I often combine energywork with Hypnotherapy and Intuitive Life Coaching to help retrain the brain and get clients where they want to go as quickly as possible.

Given my personal history, I find it very rewarding to help clients stop smoking, along with a wide array of other issues.

In addition to my healing services, I continue to work as a professional writer focused on writing profile stories about successful people in business (affording me insights into the minds of high achievers).

My extensive background in written and verbal communications has proven invaluable to me as a healer and teacher. Free of ego-driven delusions of grandeur, I take a down-to-earth approach to my healing work, which is all about empowering others.

Helping people find their way along their paths is deeply fulfilling, and I feel so grateful and blessed for the opportunity. I adore animals and am willing to work with them as well.

My Reiki Lineage

Some people want to know my Reiki lineage. This terms refers to the line of Reiki Masters leading down to a particular student. Ultimately, all lineages trace back to Mikao Usui, the founder of Reiki in Japan. Nearly everyone in the West can be traced back through Hawayo Takata as well. She first brought Reiki to America.

Mikao Usui - ReikiAs mentioned above, I have had two Reiki Teachers: Mary Goslen (who inititated me to Level I) and Amy Weeks (who taught me the other levels up through Karuna Reiki Master).

Goslen Lineage: Mikao Usui, Dr. Chujiro Hayashi, Hawayo Takata, Fran Brown, Mary Goslen, Brad Dixon.

Weeks Lineage: Mikao Usui, Dr. Chujiro Hayashi, Hawayo Takata, Phyllis Furumoto, John Lacks, Annie Star, Cynthia Rose-Young, Adrienne “Nikki” Cobb, Claudia Storms, Amy Weeks, Brad Dixon.

.NOTE: If you visit, you may well encounter my two delightfully social cats. I can keep them out of the studio, but if you have a pet allergy (which can’t easily be controlled by an allergy med), or if you’re afraid of cats, or just don’t like cats, this may be not be the right space for you. The cats rule the roost. They just let me work here.
