A strong yet soothing form of energy healing, La-Ho-Chi is believed to tap into the energy of an advanced, benevolent spiritual consciousness. Sometimes spelled LaHo-Chi or LaHoChi), this energy channels through practitioners at a very high frequency. La-Ho-Chi can help clients shift physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually through hands-on healing (performed in similar fashion to Reiki).

Historically La-Ho-Chi has been credited for its ability to energetically benefit the physical, etheric, mental, emotional and spiritual bodies of the human energy field (or aura). It’s widely believed that disease can start in the higher bodies before manifesting in the physical body.

In particular, La-Ho-Chi is noted for working on the etheric level (which serves as the blueprint for the physical body). As the La-Ho-Chi energy improves the structuring of the etheric level, it can help bring our physical bodies into better alignment and balance.

The etheric body contains the acupuncture meridian systems, in which there are 14 major energy channels consisting of 12 organ meridian channels (six yang and six yin) and two central channels. One of the central channels is on the front of the body, while the other is on the the back (meeting at the roof of the mouth).

La-Ho-Chi works along these meridians as well as the chakras and our entire energy system.

As with Reiki, the La-Ho-Chi practitioner is simply the channel for this energy.

La-Ho-Chi Services (Sessions/Training)

At Wellspring Rejuvenation Center, I regularly incorporate this energy into healing sessions as needed (in conjunction with Reiki).

Having attained the level of Usui Reiki Master is a prerequisite for taking this training because La-Ho-Chi is strong, and energy healing is best taught through a progression. For those who’ve already completed their Karuna Mastership, I can customize a course solely dedicated to La-Ho-Chi.

How I Use La-Ho-Chi

When performing sessions on myself or others, I follow my inner sense of when and how it’s best to perform Reiki and when to employ the La-Ho-Chi vibration of energy. Often Reiki is the best course of action to help a client relax and release unbenefical energies.

The great part is that once attuned, it’s very easy to set the intention of using La-Ho-Chi (just as with Reiki). I can move back and forth between channeling Reiki and La-Ho-Chi at different points of the body (even though I can’t use them simultaneously). La-Ho-Chi is the big tool in my kit that I always pull out if a client is suffering from a serious health issue.

It’s not that La-Ho-Chi is necessarily always better than Reiki, even though it can feel very powerful. Again, it’s trusting your intuition of which modality is best to use (knowing that neither La-Ho-Chi nor Reiki can cause harm).

My Introduction to La-Ho-Chi

As I completed my upper levels of Reiki training in 2002, I noticed that my teacher, Amy Weeks, offered a final energywork class called La-Ho-Chi. Because it was not as widely known as Reiki, I wondered if it might simply be another variation of Reiki. There are many offshoots of the traditional Japanese practice, under a wide variety of names.

But as I’ve come to learn, not all hands-on healing techniques are employing the same vibrations/frequencies/sources of energy. Reiki is high-vibrational, spiritually guided life-force energy that is easy for a practitioner to learn to channel from its universal source, while some practices like Chi Gong and Quantum Touch depend on a practitioner building up their own energy from the Earth and surrounding environment for healing use.

I was feeling so nudged by my intuition and spiritual guidance to pursue La-Ho-Chi that I finally did something about it in 2005. I arranged a session with Amy purely devoted to La-Ho-Chi. She cautioned me that it wasn’t always as gentle and soothing as Reiki and that it might feel a little more “rock and roll.” And I definitely found it powerfully intense (especially at my crown chakra). So I thought, “Okay, this is definitely different,” as I definitely felt better on several levels.

Taking the Journey

Within a month, I’d registered for a training course and again felt the unique power of this energy during the attunement process (much more intense than in any of my Reiki attunements). I asked my teacher how using the energy felt different to her, and she likened channeling it to the extra bass you might feel from a state-of-the-art sound system. And indeed, that’s how I’ve found it to be – just a very deep feeling coursing through me on the way to a client (or when directed at myself).

One of the first people I gave La-Ho-Chi to was a man who’d suffered lingering back problems from parental abuse as a child. I explained that I’d be using a another healing modality called La-Ho-Chi to help relieve his chronic back pain, and he commented after a few minutes, “Man, that feels like wild horses compared to the Reiki.” However, La-Ho-Chi can be very relaxing as well, depending upon clients’ needs.

History of La-Ho-Chi

This energy was harnessed into a structured system for humanity in the early 1990s when a spiritual teacher named Satachmar, a devotee of Sai Baba and Meher Baba in India, was asked by his student, Michael David Lawrence, if there was a better way to heal.

Satchamar had been leading Lawrence and others in a meditation group that held twice-a-day Angel Light Sessions for nearly a year in California. Through this dedicated practice, the La-Ho-Chi came forward, and this healing system was created.

Lawrence and other members of the group began spreading the practice to a variety of health care practitioners in California, including doctors, nurses, acupuncturists, chiropractors, and massage therapists. Positive feedback from this community, in particular some prominent acupuncturists, helped to validate the effectiveness of La-Ho-Chi and inspire expanded interest. Awareness of La-Ho-Chi continues to grow, and today there are numerous centers around the U.S. dedicated to its practice.

The “La” part of the name refers to the light, love and wisdom coming from a Higher Power through the practitioner; “Ho” is the movement of this energy through the subtle and physical bodies; and “Chi” is the Chinese term for life force.

Some associate the La-Ho-Chi energy vibration with ascended masters such Kuan Yin, a bodhisattva associated with compassion in Buddhism; and Lao Tzu, author of the Tao Te Ching. Others consider this healing from the Angelic realm. Whatever the case, Whatever the case, it’s safe to say that La-Ho-Chi definitely comes from a Higher Power.
